The Top Wedding Trends We’ll See in 2019

From vibrant violet tones to geometric decor, 2018 was full of Insta-worthy wedding trends we loved seeing at ceremonies and on our feeds. Each year gets bigger and better, however, and we can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store for the gorgeous couples and wedding vendors around the world. Here are seven of the top anticipated wedding trends we’ll see in this new year.

  1. Colorful Coral

Pantone announced its Color of the Year for 2019 and it’s as bright and joyful as we hoped. “Living Coral” is anticipated to be one of the most widely used colors in 2019 and we know weddings will be no exception. While this color may be too strong for some brides’ tastes, adding it as small details throughout your spring or summer wedding can add a cheery vibe without going overboard.

  1. Minimalism

This is a trend we don’t expect to go away any time soon. After the world fawned over Meghan’s classic wedding dress and simple updo, more and more brides are opting for simple, minimalistic details and decor for their big day.

  1. Mixed-Gender Bridal Parties

We’re seeing a noticeable shift away from the traditional girls-only bridal party and men-only groomsmen. More couples are opting to include both genders on both sides of their party, and we imagine this exciting and inclusive trend is here to stay.

  1. Gorgeous Greenery and Grasses

Greenery and florals have been at the top of brides’ must-have lists for several years, but as we head into 2019, we can expect to see more earthy elements to this decor. Instead of accents of delicate florals in arrangements, more couples are opting to include grasses and serious greenery, like branches and leaves, in their wedding decor.

  1. Halter-Necks

Again, we have Meghan Markle to thank for this lovely trend. After wowing the world with her elegant reception dress, bridal salons around the world have seen an increase in brides opting for dresses with halter-style necklines. Simple, sophisticated, and sexy, we hope this trend stays around for a while.

  1. Video Projections

We may be biased, but this is one of the trends we’re most excited for. Video projects, or video mapping, as some wedding professionals are calling it, is one way to add a personalized and unique touch to your wedding that very few of your guests have likely seen before. Projections can include shots from you and your fiance’s engagement video, clips from each family’s home videos, or even add fun music video-like touches to the dance floor. This is one trend we can’t wait to see take off in the next calendar year!

  1. Drones

2019 is the year things get bigger and better, and that’s certainly the case for wedding videos. While couples have embraced this growing service over the years, 2019 is the year we’ll see couples truly embrace drones as a unique aspect to their wedding film. We’ve seen how much more special incorporating drones can make a wedding video, and the video we filmed for Abigail and Christopher’s wedding in Tuscany is the perfect example. Especially with destination weddings, the surrounding landscapes are half of the appeal, and drone shots can perfectly showcase the beauty of whichever location you and your fiance have decided on.

Which of these trends is calling your name for your 2019 wedding? As we start taking bookings for the year, we’re hoping we will be able to see at least a few of these incorporated into the weddings we film. Looking for more wedding advice? The Pros and Cons of Planning a Luxury Labor Day Wedding

Thinking about saying “I do” on the last weekend of the summer? Countless industry professionals have conflicting opinions about whether having a Labor Day wedding offers more pros or more cons. Here are some of the most important pros and cons to take into consideration if you and your partner want to throw a luxury wedding on Labor Day!

Pro: Out-of-town guests will have more freedom in their schedule.

Worried that some of your guests won’t be able to make the trip out to see your special day? By hosting your ceremony on a holiday weekend like Labor Day, guests will have more time to commit to traveling, will be less likely to need to take a day off work, and will be more willing to make the trip to see you.

Con: Holiday weekends are more expensive.

Love the idea of having your wedding be the end-of-summer bash for your friends and family? Chances are, you and your fiance(é) are not the only ones who have the same idea. Prices for flights and hotel rooms can spike during holidays, making it a bigger strain for both you and your guests’ wallets. Some of these expenses can be avoided, though. If you know your wedding will fall on a holiday weekend, being more proactive to find wedding vendors early on can help save you a significant amount of money on expensive holiday prices.

Pro: A long weekend means a “longer wedding”.

Don’t get overwhelmed by trying to cram all of your wedding festivities into one short weekend! By taking the long Labor Day weekend for your wedding, you can host everything from a pre-wedding dinner the night before to a morning-after brunch, giving you more time to spend with your friends and family. Did you know? The average luxury wedding couple hosts at least 5 events during their wedding festivities.

Con: Some of your guests might get annoyed.

This is likely the most common con that comes with planning a Labor Day wedding. With any holiday weekend comes a number of family traditions and pre-planned trips that may prevent your guests from being able to attend. In the past, it has sometimes been considered rude to host your wedding over a holiday weekend as it may prevent your friends and family from pursuing their own holiday plans, but when asked for their thoughts, many The Knot readers stated that the only tradition their families have over Labor Day is hosting a barbecue; something they would willingly give up for a friends’ wedding.

Pro: You’ll get more one-on-one time with guests.

Taking the long weekend to throw multiple wedding events allows your guests the opportunity to have more time to catch up with you and your fiance(é). Considering most luxury weddings have 200+ people on the guest list, it can be difficult to make time for each one during a short weekend. By taking three days over the weekend to hold a variety of showers, dinners, and brunches, you’ll be able to thank each guest personally for making the time to celebrate with you and your future spouse.

The Top Luxury Wedding Trends of Summer 2018

Rose gold decor, industrial warehouses, and donut-lined walls filled our Instagram feeds last year as brides around the country threw their wedding day celebrations. However, this year, luxury weddings are getting a bit of a twist on their traditional decor. Here are 5 trends we can expect to see at this season’s matrimonious celebrations.

  • Experience > Favors

Gone are the days of wrapped boxes of mints and bags of personalized M&Ms. This summer, couples plan to thank their guests with immersive experiences rather than material items. From specialized entertainment to unique drink stations, the sky’s the limit for couples looking to add extra flair to their big day. Some of the more popular entertainment choices that couples are picking include fortune tellers, illusionists, life-sized game boards, and even acrobats.

  • A Revamped Wedding Party

The traditional wedding party is getting a whole new look for luxury weddings this summer. Couples are now inviting their grandparents to be ring bearers and flower girls, wedding parties are no longer divided up by gender, and dogs are getting special roles during the ceremonies. For brides and grooms with best friends of the opposite gender, this new trend allows them to honor their friends in their wedding without being constricted by old wedding traditions. Putting a little flair on your wedding party can add a fun twist for your guests and make your wedding more memorable.

  • The Florals are Getting Flipped

Say goodbye to heavy, voluminous floral centerpieces this summer, and hello to hanging floral arrangements. At luxury weddings, tables are being decorated from the top down as chandeliers are adorned with flowers. Some of the most popular floral options for these stunning centerpieces? Orchids, wisteria, and roses make beautiful additions to any upside-down bouquet.

  • Deep Necklines and Luxe Lace

As far as wedding dresses go, brides planning luxury weddings are opting for more form-fitting, lacy dresses this summer. Princess gowns and A-line dresses are predicted to make a comeback eventually, but for this summer, popular gown styles involve deep necklines, lace sleeves, form-fitting material, and loose waves for the wedding day hairstyle.

  • Clear is the New Color

From venues with full glass walls to decor designs featuring clear candelabras, chandeliers, and dining chairs, weddings are going transparent this summer. Shimmering, crystal accents paired with pastel decor will likely appear at weddings all over the country, and soft twinkle lights will help every glass detail shine. With the re-emerging popularity of mid-century interior design, luxury weddings are seeing an increase in the use of this see-through decor.

This summer, luxury weddings are going bigger and better than before. By focusing on their guests’ wedding experience and incorporating jaw-dropping details, couples are setting this summer’s wedding trends extravagantly. Don’t forget to hire your wedding videographer to capture every element of your modern wedding – from your grandma tossing flower petals down the aisle to your guests playing an intense game of life-sized checkers.
